UUM ONLINE:Amidst confronting difficult times during the Movement Control Order (MCO), UUMIT remains committed to ensuring that the coverage and capabilities of the information technology network is always in the optimum condition.
Hence, a meeting chaired by Prof Dr Abdul Malek Abdul Karim, the Director of UUMIT was recently held on the Webex application.
He said the meeting was held to discuss current issues that needed to be addressed during the MCO period.
According to him, 20 UUMIT staff were given permission to bring home computers in order to facilitate them working from home as they needed access to software available only on office computers.
"Apart from that, discussion also revolved around the problems students faced in accessing the Internet at the Student Residential Halls (INASIS) and ways on how to resolve the problem.
“All these issues must be resolved immediately before teaching and learning (PdP) activities are expected to begin at the end of April.
"UUMIT will review the UUM Online Learning system and QR Code to ensure the smooth running of the process," he said.
Among the other matters discussed at the meeting were the readiness of lecturers on the implementation of the teaching and learning (PdP) through Online Learning (OL) by incorporating materials into the UUM Online Learning application and conducting the student question-and-answer sessions through Webex.
The UUMIT meeting not only focused on academic needs, but also administration when all department heads will receive email quota increase.
“I hope that the initiatives taken will help to improve the flow of work of campus denizens, staff and students included especially in facing difficult situation following the outbreak of the Covid-19.
"Hopefully all UUM denizens will be able to pull through this test patiently and calmly until the end of MCO," he said.
The video teleconferencing meeting also saw the participation of Deputy Director of UUMIT , Heads of Unit and Assistant Registrar of UUMIT.
